The visa fee, payable in Ethiopian Birr (ETB), is linked to the “Consular Exchange Rate” – according to the relevant table – and is subject to change at the end of each quarter.
- National Visas (employment and family reunification): €116
- National Study Visas: €50
Payment must be made in Ethiopian Birr either by credit card or cash directly at the Embassy counter. Applicants paying in cash are advised to bring the exact amount.
- For Schengen Visas (Type “C”): payment is made in Ethiopian Birr directly at the Visa counter when submitting the application. To verify the amount payable in ETB according to the current exchange rate, consult the relevant table Consular Exchange Rate
Visa fees may vary depending on the applicant’s situation:
- Standard fee for adults: €90
- Children aged between 6 and 12 years: €45
- Free of charge for applicants belonging to one of the following categories:
- children under six years of age;
- school pupils, students, postgraduate students, and accompanying teachers undertaking stays for study or educational training purposes;
- researchers from third countries traveling for scientific research purposes in accordance with Recommendation 2005/761/EC of the European Parliament and the Council of 28 September 2005;
- the following family members of EU/EEA citizens, when accompanying or joining the EU/EEA citizen, as identified by Directive 2004/38/EC and Legislative Decree 30/2007:
- spouse;
- registered partner, where recognized by the legislation of the host Member State;
- direct descendants under 21 years of age or dependents, including those of the spouse or partner;
- dependent direct ascendants (parents, grandparents), including those of the spouse or partner.
