The Visa Application Centre (VAC) of VFS Global is the external partner of the Italian Embassy in Addis Ababa responsible for receiving applications for short-stay visas (Schengen visas up to 90 days) and long-stay STUDY visas (from 91 to 365 days). The service is available to residents of the three countries accredited to the Italian Embassy: Ethiopia, Djibouti (please note that the French Embassy is responsible for processing Schengen visas), and South Sudan.

ATTENTION!
Visa applicants are strongly advised NOT to appear at the Visa Section of the Italian Embassy in Addis Ababa unless they are in possession of the appointment confirmation received by email, duly printed.
A separate appointment must be booked for each applicant. Please note that groups of people who book only one appointment will result in the acceptance of only one application.
The following categories of applicants must submit their visa applications exclusively at the Visa Section of the Italian Embassy in Addis Ababa by booking through the Prenot@mi platform, and NOT through VFS:
- spouses, parents (mother/father), and children of Italian citizens accompanying/joining the Italian/EU citizen for periods shorter than three months;
- spouses, parents (mother/father), and children of Italian citizens intending to reunite with the family member permanently residing in Italy;
- representatives of the governments of Ethiopia, Djibouti, and South Sudan on official mission, with a supporting note verbale from the competent Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
- representatives of embassies, the African Union, the United Nations, and International Organizations holding diplomatic or service passports and traveling on official mission with a supporting note verbale from their organization;
- persons requiring visas for medical treatment;
- applicants holding an expired or stolen residence permit;
- applicants for family reunification visas.
In case of cancellation of an appointment, it will not be possible to reschedule it by phone, email, or in person. A new booking must be made through PRENOT@MI at the following link:

HOW CAN I COLLECT MY VISA?
If you submitted your visa application at the VFS Global Visa Application Centre:
- during your first appointment, after submitting your visa application, you will receive a new appointment from the VFS staff.
If you submitted your visa application at the Visa Section of the Italian Embassy (through the PRENOT@MI online booking system):
- during your first appointment, after submitting your visa application, you will receive a new appointment from the Embassy staff.
IMPORTANT!
- Visa applications submitted on behalf of third parties are not accepted. Applicants must appear in person on the day of their appointment, with a printed copy of the completed and signed application form, together with all supporting documents, and must provide fingerprints where required.
- Applicants do not have an automatic right to obtain a visa. The final decision regarding visa issuance lies exclusively with the Italian Embassy.
- The Italian Embassy in Addis Ababa works exclusively with the outsourced services provider VFS Global. Applicants are strongly advised NOT to use intermediaries and/or agencies for booking appointments or preparing visa applications.
