Italy welcomes and supports the Ethiopian Government’s declaration of an indefinite humanitarian truce, aimed at expediting unfettered humanitarian access in Tigray and in all areas in need throughout the country.
We hope that this decision will positively contribute to a negotiated solution that cannot be delayed to the current crisis, through a political process of genuine and inclusive dialogue.
Italy strongly wishes that, starting from this announcement, all parties involved will cooperate to reach a general and permanent ceasefire in the country. Italy will continue to support every effort to achieve a sustainable and lasting peace for the benefit of all the Ethiopian people.
