The Italian Research Day in the World – Ethiopia, Addis Ababa on 12th of June 2026

On June 12, the Italian Embassy in Ethiopia is organizing “Italian World Research Day (GRIM) in Addis Ababa, with particular attention to activities in space”: an initiative involving the Ministry of Universities and Research (MUR) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAECI).

The event aims to enhance Italian research in the space field, both theoretical and applied, and to raise awareness in the Ethiopian system of the multiple applications and services of satellite technologies, for example in the field of combating climate change, preventing natural disasters, meteorology. Major sector stakeholders, Ethiopian, Italian and international, including from African Union, UNDP and the Ethiopian Armed Forces, will take part in the event.

The aim is to bring together representatives from academia, industry, innovation ecosystems, and the administration to strengthen existing cooperation, with a view to developing new scientific and industrial partnerships.

The program will begin at 9:00 AM with opening remarks, followed by panel discussions, and it will conclude with a Q&A session.
