The European University Institute (EUI) in Florence promotes two new educational programs in favor of African beneficiaries:
- The “Young African Leaders Program” (YALP) of the School of Transnational Governance, with the financial support of the European Commission – DG International Partnerships. YALP is a unique opportunity for young African officials who wish to develop their professional skills by attending courses specializing in transnational governance and carrying out research and in-depth study activities with the support of international experts. YALP is aimed at African professionals who reside in Africa and work in national authorities, local authorities, international organizations, civil society, think tanks and the media, and who are under 45 years of age. Applications may be submitted until 11:59 pm (Central European Time) on March 31, 2021. The call for applications is available at the following link: https://stg.eui.eu/africanleaders.
- Two scholarships under the program “University Corridors 3.0” (UNICORE), founded on the partnership between 24 universities in Italy, UNHCR, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Caritas Italy, Diaconia Valdese, Astalli Center and other local partners. With the goal of offering scholarships to refugee students in Ethiopia to study in a Master’s program in Italy, the partnership was able to create 43 study opportunities in Italy for the academic years 2021/2022 and 2022/2023. Specifically, EUI provided two scholarships for its Master’s program in Transnational Governance. EUI will provide extra-academic support to Ethiopian scholarship recipients through the local partnership with Caritas of Florence and the Chapter of the Church of Fiesole. Applications may be submitted until 11:59 p.m. (Central European Time) on April 1, 2021.
