Please be informed that starting from 8:00 p.m. on 12 February 2026 until 2:00 a.m. on 18 February 2026, the VIS operating system will undergo a temporary operational shutdown.
This is a scheduled and urgent technical intervention which will result in the temporary suspension of activities related to the receipt and processing of visa applications, as well as the issuance of entry visas.
The suspension will affect the operations of both the Visa Office of the Embassy of Italy in Addis Ababa and the centers managed by the outsourced service provider VFS Global.
In order to minimize inconvenience to users, already scheduled appointments will be rescheduled to the days immediately before or after the period affected by the shutdown, taking priority needs and urgent cases duly into account.
