The Italian Research Day in the World (Giornata della Ricerca Italiana nel Mondo – GRIM) is an initiative by the Italian Ministry of University and Research and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Organized worldwide by Italian embassies. GRIM highlights the contributions of Italian researchers abroad and Italy’s dedication to science, technology, and innovation, fostering international cooperation.
This year, the event in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, will convene stakeholders from academia, industry, innovation ecosystems, and local administration to emphasize:
- Strengthening Italo-Ethiopian Cooperation: Highlighting the growing partnership between Italy and Ethiopia.
- Promoting Inclusivity in Science: Advocating for visibility and humanity in STEM and STEAM fields.
- Innovation for Sustainable Development: Focusing on innovation in agriculture, sustainable natural resource management, climate change, and biodiversity preservation to address social, economic, and environmental challenges.
The event will feature open discussions among Italian and Ethiopian scientists and academics on innovative and scientific strategies for contemporary Ethiopia. The aim is to reinforce existing partnerships and forge new collaborations in agricultural innovation, natural resource management, and scientific community engagement.
The program begins at 9:00 AM with opening remarks from the Ambassador of Italy to Ethiopia followed by presentations from Italian and Ethiopian scientists and scholars. A Q&A session will conclude the event, with networking opportunities afterward.
